Every breast procedure performed at Dr. Kasrai's cosmetic surgery Toronto facility is tailored to each patient's desires. There are many reasons why our patients become interested in a breast lift procedure.
Pregnancy, nursing, weight fluctuation, aging and gravity can stretch your skin and make your breasts sag prematurely. A breast lift (also known as mastopexy) raises and reshapes your breasts to make them firmer, shapelier and more attractive. If your breasts are very small or have lost volume, combining a breast lift with implants can be a good way to increase size and firmness. In your initial consultation, Dr. Kasrai will determine whether you are a Toronto breast lift with breast implants candidate.
This procedure can be performed on breasts of any size, but results may not last as long in women who have heavy breasts. Also, breast lifts do not interfere with your ability to breast feed, but if you do undergo pregnancy after having the procedure, your breasts will likely stretch again, which will impact the results.
Depending on how much of a lift you need and how much excess skin needs to be removed, Dr. Kasrai makes one of two types of incisions:
Dr. Kasrai removes the excess skin and slides the nipple into a higher position. If you're having breast implants done along with the lift, they will be placed directly under the breast tissue or under the muscle, depending on your body type and the results you want. More about implant placement
Please be aware that this surgery leaves noticeable, permanent scars, but they can be covered up by a bra or bathing suit.
Breast lift Toronto patients are treated under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis at the surgical facility in St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto, Ontario, where Dr. Kasrai is the Chief of Plastic Surgery.
After surgery, you'll wake up wearing bandages over gauze dressings. Dr. Kasrai will prescribe pain medication to relieve any discomfort. You will likely experience some numbness in your nipples and breast skin. This is caused by swelling. As the swelling subsides, you should regain feeling. Most of the swelling is usually gone after about six weeks, but for some patients, it will take longer for the feeling to return, and in rare occasions, the numbness can be permanent.
We recommend that you take at least a week off after your procedure to stay home and rest to speed healing and get a good result. For that first week, move your arms as little as possible and avoid driving. If you have small children, you'll need to ask someone to help you with day-to-day activities.
After a few days, you'll be able to replace the bandages with a soft support bra over a layer of gauze, which you'll need to wear 24/7 for about three or four weeks. You should be able to get back to your regular activites in about 7-10 days, but avoid heavy lifting, vigorous exercise (especially upper body workouts) for about six weeks. Dr. Kasrai will remove the stitches after about two weeks.
All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk, but having a qualified Toronto breast lift surgeon, such as Dr. Kasrai, perform the procedure ensures that complications are rare. However, occasional post-operative complications do occur. They can include:
There is a higher risk of these complications in breast lift Toronto patients who are smokers, are diabetic or have poor circulation. You can reduce your risks by following Dr. Kasrai's instructions, resuming activity after surgery and by not smoking.
