Toronto Labioplasty Surgeon – Dr. Leila Kasrai

As an experienced Toronto labioplasty specialist, Dr. Kasrai understands women who have enlarged labia can suffer from the discomfort and irritation of having them constantly rubbing against clothing. It’s a painful problem that can prevent women from enjoying activities like cycling, exercise, and even sexual intercourse.

But in addition to physical discomfort, women with large or unusually shaped labia often have painful self-esteem issues that stem from having genitalia that doesn't conform with what’s “normal.”

Labioplasty, sometimes known as labiaplasty, which is the surgical reduction of the labia minora (the lips at the entrance of the vagina), can reduce oversized labia, treat asymmetry, and improve sexual appearance and function.

Labioplasty can also be performed on the labia majora, the outer lips of the vagina. Labia majora reduction surgery is an excellent solution for women who have enlarged or sagging outer vaginal lips. Labia majora is generally stretched over time due to aging, childbirth and massive weight loss. As a skilled Toronto labioplasty surgeon, Dr. Kasrai can reduce and reshape the contours of labia majora for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The Labioplasty Procedure

Incisions are extremely fine and are situated within natural folds and creases so that no scarring will be evident. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis at the surgical facility in St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto, Ontario, where Dr. Kasrai is the Chief of Plastic Surgery.

Aftercare for Toronto Labioplasty Patients

Labioplasty Toronto patients may experience some minor swelling and bruising for the first few days following your surgery. Any discomfort can be alleviated with pain medication, which Dr. Kasrai will prescribe.

You will be able to shower after about 24 hours, and we encourage you to clean the area with soap and water to prevent infection. Wear a sanitary napkin for a week or so – and avoid sexual activity for about two months. You should be able to return to work after a few days, as long as you don't have to do anything strenuous. Your sutures will dissolve on their own.

Risks of Surgery for Toronto Labioplasty Patients

All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk, but having a qualified Toronto labioplasty surgeon, such as Leila Kasrai, MD, perform the procedure ensures that complications are rare. However, occasional post-operative complications do occur. They can include swelling, bruising, bleeding, numbness (temporary or permanent) and infection. There is a higher risk of these complications in patients who are smokers, are diabetic or have poor circulation.

Clitoral Hoodectomy

Dr. Kasrai also performs clitoral hoodectomy, a vaginal rejuvenation procedure that reduces the size of the clitoral hood to improve asymmetry. In most cases, clitoral hoodectomy is performed in conjunction with labioplasty surgery for the best aesthetic outcome. In addition, clitoral hoodectomy may improve the exposure of the clitoral hood, thereby increasing sexual stimulation and pleasure.
